Project Executive

Summary

The Project Executive is responsible for managing all crucial aspects of the design build process for multiple construction projects. Key responsibilities, as described below include Operational Excellence, Pre-construction, Sales, and Cultural Traits.

Operational Execution

  • Capable of understanding, teaching, and training construction finance, i.e., budgets, change management, costs, forecasts, and P&L management
  • Develop and publish a detailed construction schedules
  • Author, review and execute contracts docs, i.e., prime contracts, subcontracts, scopes of work, exhibits, insurance, bonds, etc.
  • Hire, train and motivate project execution teams
  • Manage, inspire, and lead trade partner discussions
  • Must be “all knowing” on project performance (cost, schedule, safety, quality, customer satisfaction) and report accordingly
  • Excellent communicator, leave nothing undiscussed, or untimely
  • Competent in construction software, Excel, ERP, PM, scheduling, estimating, BIM
  • Know federal, state, and company safety protocol and hold project team members accountable.
  • Possess an extremely high level of quality standards and hold project team members accountable
  • Responsible for mentoring and training Sr. Project Managers and Project Managers, ensuring adequate training is available and provided to Assistant Project Managers and Project Engineers

Pre-construction

  • Take the lead on pre-construction activities once handed off from sales – handoff is at the point in which a client requires a deliverable
  • Coordinate all pre-construction activities and team members
  • Create development timeline and track progress weekly
  • Lead estimate timeline, establish key milestones, and develop appropriate review points with estimating team
  • Possess the appropriate level of technical knowledge to guide design and pre-construction team members through the design and pre-construction process
  • Hold all design and pre-construction team members accountable for product quality and deadlines
  • Communicate with client at all levels, plant manager to CEO
  • Ensure estimate meets triangulation requirements, 1. Sub input, 2. Historical data, 3, internal take off
  • Drive estimate process to ensure appropriate coverage, and tools are available for support and success

Sales

  • Knowledgeable in all aspects of our product = delivery methods, execution, technical expertise, company history and experience, personnel, client requirements, design and program management
  • Must be outward facing, able to follow up in a timely fashion, deliver on expectations, and instill confidence in our clients
  • Produce competent deliverables, work closely with marketing for proposals, PowerPoints, leave behinds, etc.
  • Work closely with sales team to prepare and execute on new client meetings
  • Coordinate, review, author, and deliver on client RFPs
  • Attend key industry conferences, man booths, and actively participation

Required Skills

  • Bachelor's degree from four-year College or university; or a minimum of ten years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Minimum of five consecutive years total profit and loss accountability on multiple projects
  • Minimum of five years of experience managing all disciplines of design/build projects or hard bid projects as required for the market this position serves
  • Prior pre-construction and construction management experience
  • Experience in all contracting methods such as lump sum, GMP, cost plus construction management, and fee-based construction. Must understand legal aspects and implications of contractual language
  • Have a proven record in increasing project profitability from the initial project profit margin on multiple projects
  • Sufficiently knowledgeable in technical aspects of engineering and design disciplines to represent Griffco as the "primary point of contact" in initial project discussions with customers
  • Thoroughly knowledgeable of costs and fees associated with the variety of engineering and design disciplines and services Griffco offers
  • Thoroughly knowledgeable of the impact caused by multiple changes in either the design, engineering, or construction phases and how they impact the overall project, from the cost, schedule, construction management, and construction operations perspectives
  • Knowledgeable of when and how to address these issues with customers
  • Proven experience in the development of aggressive schedules for projects with variables such as project type(s), areas, and seasonal start dates
  • Proven experience in preparing cost estimates for design/build projects in the industrial and cold storage arena
